Brand (Equity) Mining

The process of using the brand equity, and exploiting brand loyalty and brand image to sell larger volumes of goods, particularly less exclusive brand extensions or goods of lesser quality but higher margins. The term mining is used to indicate that such an approach will, like mining, slowly exhaust the reserves of brand equity.
